Goshen, Indiana (July 27, 2021) – Elkhart County Commissioners invite media to attend flag raising ceremony planned for the first week of August. Guests include local leaders, citizens, and Indiana Lt. Governor.

“We’re honored that Lt. Governor Crouch will be joining us as we raise the flags in their new home on the courthouse campus,” commented Suzie Weirick, President of the Elkhart County Commissioners. “Over the years, a lot of people have wondered why it’s so hard for us to lower the flag to half-staff when appropriate. But, as you can see in the video and photos of Mike Anderson lowering the flag for the last time a few days ago, it’s just too dangerous up there. So, as of August 4, we’ll be able to raise and lower both flags safely whenever it’s appropriate. And I want to thank Donald Tubicsak, our Elkhart County Director of Buildings and Grounds, and his dedicated team for making this new home possible.”

WHO: Indiana Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch, Elkhart County Commissioners Suzie Weirick, President, Frank Lucchese, Vice President, and Brad Rogers. 150 members of the Goshen High School Band, the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Honor Guard, hundreds of citizens and County employees will join other elected officials and community leaders for the ceremonial raising of the American Flag and the Indiana State Flag in their new homes on the west side of the 153- year-old historic Goshen Courthouse campus.

WHERE: 101 N. Main Street, Goshen, IN 46528

WHEN: August 4, 2021, at 2:00 p.m.
